Obituary for Bernard Donald Fish

Bernard (Bernie) Donald Fish of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at the age of 93. He is survived by his cherished wife, Natalie Fish, his daughters, Eileen Fish Shatzman and Ellen Fish (Frank) Francois; stepdaughters, Karen Dworkin Alexander, Merritt Dworkin and Alyson Dworkin Katz; grandchildren, Jenna and Adam Shatzman, Drew NeSmith, Jillian and Mackenzie Alexander, Tyler and Brett Katz. He is predeceased by his first wife, Dolly Fish (nee Lipsitz); sister, Sylvia (Alfred) Naden and parents, Philip and Florence Fish.

In 1946, Bernie served his country and was drafted into the US Army where he was stationed in Yokohama, Japan. In 1953, he entered into the life insurance business where he later went on to form Maryland Pension Consultants and Associates, Inc in 1970. In the early days of his career he was general agent for Southwestern Life. In 1983 he formed Bernard D. Fish & Associates Inc., where he provided life insurance and pension planning for his clients. He served in many leadership capacities on various professional boards and councils.

He was proud of his work, and enjoyed going to his office every day until Covid hit. He was beloved by his clients and work associates.

His determination and will to live life to the fullest was evident until the very end.

Family was of utmost importance to Bernie. He was a devoted, doting and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was warm, friendly and kind, always greeting others with a huge smile. He was adored by all who knew him, including Eileen and Ellen’s childhood friends. He will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.
