Obituary for Berta “Bertie” Farbman
We are sad to announce the passing of Berta “Bertie” Farbman (nee Grossman) on Monday, January 2, 2023, at her home following an illness at the age of 77. Bertie was born in Baltimore, a daughter of the late Morris and Yetta Grossman.
After she retired, as an elementary education teacher, from Frederick County Public Schools, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family and many friends. But what brought Bertie the most joy was being “Grandma” to Jack and Ella. She had a vivacious personality; always making people around her laugh. She was witty, bright, and compassionate, and had a great sense of humor. Bertie made friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Adam and Nicole Farbman of Hagerstown, two grandchildren, Jack and Ella Farbman and one sister, Sylvia Tulkoff of Pikesville, as well many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, with whom she was very close.
Services at Sol Levinson's chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 at 12:00 pm. Interment Shaarei Zion Cemetery - Rosedale. Please omit flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to The Humane Society of Frederick, and the Two Top Mountain Adaptive Sports Foundation. The family will be in mourning at 3404 Shelburne Road, Baltimore, MD 21208 following interment on Wednesday only.
