Obituary for Constance June Bell

(Constance) June Bell, beloved mother of Sheri Bell and Sam (Amie) Bell; loving grandmother (Gramsie) of Deborah (Bradley) Greene, Leah Bell, Alyssa Bell, and Ben Bell; adored great-grandmother of Madelyn Greene and Norah Greene, passed away on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her very beloved and loving husband, Nathan (Nate) Bell, and by her parents, Rachel and John Imhoff.

June and Nate were avid, hard-working gardeners, and they created many extensive, gracious, and welcoming gardens together in their homes in Baltimore and in Florida. From them, June arranged bouquets throughout their home, using her favorite sweet peas, marigolds, and zinnias that she raised from seed each year. She and Nate were devoted to making a beautiful home, the old-fashioned way, hands-on, through hard work, together. They loved to travel anywhere as long as they were together. Some of their most relaxed and enjoyable times were spent making long or short road trips, just the two of them.

June and Nate were dedicated to their synagogue life at Temple Emanuel in Baltimore and later at their synagogue in Florida. There they developed lifelong friendships with other couples that were the foundation of their social life.

June loved to sew and crochet, making clothes with her own unique style for herself and her family. She could sew anything, and throughout 61 years of marriage created window treatments and bedspreads of varied and difficult design for each of her homes with Nate. She crocheted blankets that have become family treasures. She was an avid lover of books and words, and her current read and a crossword or word search were always nearby. June loved to hear all about the adventures of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Above all, her lifelong love affair with Nate, that began when they were 14 and 17, was the backbone of her life. She adored him and always said, "I am one lucky woman." She lived as she wanted, was smarter and stronger than anyone knew, and was fiercely stubborn and independent to the last. She will be dearly missed.
