Obituary for Dorothy Newhoff
Dorothy Newhoff (nee Breitstein), passed away on Tuesday, March 16th, 2021 at the age of 90. A lifelong Baltimorean, she is survived by her son, Douglas (Elizabeth) Newhoff; and grandchildren, Caroline and Emily Newhoff. She was predeceased by husband, Theodore; her brother, Charles Breitstein; and parents, Dorothy and Moses Breitstein.
Throughout her career Dorothy was a living example of women’s empowerment. From a social worker to the Acting Director of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for the City of Baltimore, her life’s work centered around advocating equal rights for all. She was a woman ahead of her time in both her career and commitment to social justice.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary or the Alzheimer’s Association.
