Dr. Emilia Bruk passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, at the age of 86. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Olga Ioffe and Michael Ioffe, her granddaughters Julia and Dina Ioffe, and nephew Andrey Bruk. She is predeceased by her parents, Riva and Isaak Bruk, her brother and sister-in-law Anatoly and Anna Bruk, her niece Maria Bruk, and her two husbands, Yury Barsky and Oleg Larichev. She was an energetic, endlessly curious woman who loved and lived life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many, many friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to one of the causes and organizations she cared so much about: Memorial, the first Russian NGO, committed to investigating the crimes of the Stalin era and which helped Emilia discover what happened to her relatives during the Great Terror; TV Rain, the only independent television news station in Russia, which she watched around the clock and supported; and the Lubimovka Theater Festival, which is dedicated to discovering and supporting young theatrical talent across Russia.
