Fred Greenberg was born 2/26/1930 in South Baltimore, an only child of Albert Greenberg and Rose (Goldberg) Greenberg. He grew up on Riverside Ave in South Baltimore with lots of family and mischief. He went to Southern high school where he met his wife, Evelyn Kessler. They fell in love at first sight with her ponytail swaying as she walked down the steps to meet him for a date. He spent his next 62 years loving her every day. He went into the Air Force and later graduated from University of Maryland in Speech Pathology. He went on to work at the Ridge School, a school for special needs. His summers were spent as a director of a summer camp that he later owned and grew to three camps known as Timber Ridge, plus 3 in Maine. He spent over 60 years at timber ridge where every summer ended with dressing as the chief of the Scatachamunga tribe and saying goodbye to his summer family. The love for children coined him the name of “Uncle Fred”. Everyone who met him was impacted by his wit, brilliance, and genuine warmth.

His children and family, helping those in need, Timber Ridge camp, steamed crabs, espresso vodka, living life to the fullest were some of his passions in life.

92 years was not enough in this world of this amazing man. His wit, mischief and teachings will keep stories going for many generations.
