Gwenn Schneider (nee Hoffman), of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on Monday, December 19th, 2022 at the age of 89. She is survived by her loving children, Joel (Amy) Schneider, and Ann Schneider; her dear sister, Selma Oxenhorn; her cherished grandchildren, Sarita Schneider, and Samuel Schneider; and her devoted nieces and nephew, Ms. Renee Warren, Shelley Oxenhorn, and Jay Rosenfeld. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Seymour Schneider; her dear brother-in-law, Robert Oxenhorn; and her loving parents, Rose and Sol Hoffman.
Gwenn grew up in Park Place, in Brooklyn, NY, where she went on to receive her bachelor's degree at Brooklyn College, and then her Master's degree in Horticulture from Rutgers University. Gwenn loved folk dancing, and actually met her beloved husband, Seymour at a folk dancing class in which he taught. She had a love for singing, and proudly served on quartets at Congregation Habonim in NY, and Oheb Shalom in South Orange, NJ. Gwenn loved nature, bird watching, ornamental plants and trees, and attending the opera. She will be dearly missed.
Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 at 9:30 am. Interment on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 at 3 pm, at Mt. Hebron Cemetery - Flushing, NY. Please omit flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to The Nature Conservancy, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203. The family will be in receiving guests at 5 Trotters Court, Catonsville, MD 21228, on Thursday from 3 pm to 8 pm with a minyan at 7 pm, Sunday from 3 pm to 8 pm with a minyan at 7 pm, and Monday receiving from 12 to 5 pm.
