Obituary

Harvey Victor Sindler, of Pikesville, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, March 16th, 2021 at the age of 72. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Sindler (nee Weiner); sons, Jonathan (Randy) Sindler, Brian (Delene) Sindler, Andrew (Julie) Sindler, and Stephen Sindler; grandchildren, Shae, Lillian, Ashley, Chloe, and Isabella; Brother-in-law, Herb (Linda) Weiner; nephews, Jason (Elizabeth) Weiner, and Michael Lunnen; and Niece, Lisa Smolen; survived also by family of the Pikesville, Chestnut Ridge, and Hampstead Volunteer Fire Companies. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Florence Sindler.

Harvey is the type of man we can all look to as a guiding example of how to live and how to lead. Never letting obstacles in life dictate who he was, he gave his time and energy to the things that mattered, the things that made a difference for those around him. We are all better off because he was in the world. His heart was filled with love and devotion for all he knew. May his memory be a blessing always.

Services are private. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, 40 E. Sudbrook Lane Pikesville, MD 21208. Shiva will be observed privately.

Harvey was a kind and friendly neighbor who often greeted us as we walked our dog. We talked about family and sometimes he would stop the car to have Biscuit jump on his lap. When our grandson fell down on the porch, Harvey was the first one here to assist. The recent challenges he faced were difficult, but Sherry and the family did everything possible to help. We will miss him and know the family has beautiful memories they will cherish.

To Sherry and family,
Our deepest condolences to all of you on the loss of a wonderful person and neighbor. He helped so many in the community. We will always remember when our mother fell and he was the first to attend to her when we were in Italy. When we got the call the first thing Harvey said to me was "your mother looks just like you." We felt Lillian was in the best of hands. His presence will be missed.

Dear Sherry, on behalf of my extended family (Melvin and Phyllis Sindler Rubin, my sister Stephanie and myself (Neil)), we send our love to the extended Sindler family at this painful time. While I have not seen Harvey in a number of years, I was always proud to know that one of my relatives was so involved in the community. I know that Uncle Jack and Aunt Florence were kvelling as well. May the understandable sadness of this time quickly be replaced by the warm memories of a man who gave to so many and came from such a wonderful family.

Words can not describe how much my father means to me. He is my inspiration, my mentor, my motivator, and my biggest supporter. From the days of riding the engines together, to taking Paramedic together, and swapping war stories around the table, my father loved everything about the fire service and I am so happy I got to share that with him. I love you more than you will ever know and am so proud to be your son. Always watch down on me and Bella and you will always be with us through life....until we meet again dad
