Obituary for Herbert Arthur Abeles
Herbert Arthur Abeles, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at the age of 88. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sallie A. Abeles (nee Borelli); sons, Douglas J. Abeles, and Steven C. Abeles (Melissa Belman); and grandchildren Riley Abeles, Jamey Abeles, Zakary Abeles, Benjamin Abeles, and Elisabeth Abeles.
Herbert made friends everywhere he went, whether dog or person, he would always leave an impression that would stick to those around him. A proud Army veteran, his generosity and force of spirit would help to build his beautiful and strong family. Throughout his life he would always find ways to enjoy the pleasures of life, and he would do it with a healthy measure of responsibility. Measuring calories and still being sure to enjoy those important Nutty Butty treats at the end of a long day emulates his philosophy of life. Listening to music, enjoying food local and foreign with the love of his life by his side, Herbert experienced the world as best as anyone could. Above all of his passions, none would ever top the love he had for his family and grandchildren. Known lovingly as 'Papa', Herbert put everything he could into sharing his love of life with his grandkids, while always instilling in them his same sense of responsibility. The world is a better place now thanks to Herbert.
Services at Temple Beth Shalom Sanctuary, 1461 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd, Arnold, MD on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, at 10:00 am. Interment will be held privately. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to Temple Beth Shalom, 1461 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd, Arnold, MD 21012. The family will be in mourning at 1915 Town Center Blvd Unit 1115, Annapolis, Maryland 21401, beginning at 5pm on Tuesday with a shiva service at 7pm that evening.
