Mary W. Jacobs, of Baltimore, formerly Sun City Center, FL, North River NY, Englewood, NJ, and New York City, passed away on January 19, at the age of 96. Predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert M. Jacobs, and her parents, Lillian and Herman Wortsman. Survived by daughter Miriam Boral (Haran, deceased) of Austin, TX, son Lou Jacobs (Erica) of Baltimore, and five grandchildren: Tamar Jacobs (Tony Lloyd, M.D.), Eitan Boral (Michal Ziv-El), Noah Jacobs (Brittany), Ben Boral (Christine Gendron), Leah Jacobs (Jonathan Gress-Wright), and seven great-grandchildren.
Born in Washington Heights, July 7, 1926. A graduate of Hunter H.S., and Hunter College, CCNY, and Teachers College. Member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mary had a long, fulfilling career as a guidance counselor at Hackensack H.S., and was an avid quilter. She was a member of NOW and proudly marched in Washington in support of the ERA and abortion rights. In retirement she loved traveling with her husband, enjoying their second home in Garnet Hill, serving as a docent at the American Folk Art Museum and marveling at the number of her descendants as she and her husband were both only children.
