Obituary for Michael Kenneth Sahm

Michael Kenneth Sahm, passed away on Tuesday, May 25th, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Sahm (nee Mink); children, Ashley Sahm, Heather (Corey) Whitney, and Megan Sahm; parents, Toby and the late Lee Sahm; siblings, Andrea Zettel and Steven (Mindy) Sahm; aunt, Audrey Dagold and the late Don Dagold; nieces and nephews, Taylor Zettel, Lyndsay Zettel, Danielle Zettel, Leah Sahm, and Seth Sahm; cousins, Gail and Murray Green, Cindi and Michael Pollack, Amy and Brad Glaser, and Jodi and Clark Lare.

Michael lost a valiant battle with lung cancer early this morning. An accomplished mechanical engineer who specialized in practical integrated energy systems, he held over 42 US patents, and a PhD in mechanical engineering from Stanford university, an MSE from Arizona State, and a BS in mechanical engineering from University of Maryland. He was a kind, funny and gentle man who adored his wife Dawn and his three girls. He burst with pride kvelling about his loving and supportive wife Dawn, and his accomplished and brilliant daughters, Ashley, Heather and new son-in-law Corey, and Megan. As a little boy he was known as a real rascal, and some of his escapades included pushing a button on an escalator to see what would happen, shooting a homemade rocket from his backyard that flew over a neighbors roof, and stuffing a raw potato into an exhaust pipe. At the end of his life he sent thank you cards, balloons and candy to family members to thank them for their get well cards. Michael will be missed forever, by all. In lieu of flowers, cards and donations may be sent to his mother, Toby Sahm, 2600 Gage Ct, Apt D, Baltimore, MD 21209. There will be a private family gathering only.
