Obituary for Rachelle Rudo (Jonas)

Rachelle (Shelly) Rudo (nee Jonas) passed away on March 27, 2021 at the age of 70. She is survived by her sons Matthew (Jennifer) Rudo and Adam (Cheryl Pfeffer) and her grandchildren, Sara Rudo, Jackson Rudo and Charlotte Rudo, sisters Andrea (Sam) Breault and Lori Maleson, sister-in-law Rochelle Rudo, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clifford Rudo, her parents Samuel and Nora Jonas.

Shelly was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was impeccably neat and tasteful and her home reflected it, yet it was always warm and welcoming. She had many friends, most of whom were like family to her. In fact, some of her friendships dated back to her early childhood, yet some of the most significant bonds she formed were with some she met later in life. She was especially close to her sister-in-law, Rochelle, who was more of a sister to her than a sister-in-law, and a trusted friend. Most of her friends were so close to her that they were not only there for the good times, but also never failed to be there to help and support her through her many illnesses. She also frequently spoke of the group of women with whom she played Bunco for many, many years and their annual holiday party, which she usually hosted. She definitely had a flair for entertaining as well, and enjoyed doing it.

Anyone who knew Shelly knew that she was very sensitive and had a kind heart, and, as her granddaughter Sara said, a pure soul. She was first and foremost the most loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Even as her boys became adults, she never stopped saying how proud she was of them and how it touched her heart that they remained so devoted to her. They were always there for her, whether it was to help around her apartment, run errands for her, or just to check in to see how she was. They meant the world to her. Of course, the light of her life was her grandchildren, to whom she was also extremely close. She was never too busy for them and often spoke of the lunches with Sara that she loved so much and the talks with Jackson, and whenever she was able, she was there for the events of their lives, whether it was birthdays, holidays, school performances, athletic events or whatever. She loved to cook for her children and grandchildren, and whenever they came over, everyone had their favorite meal and there was always a freezer full of sweets that included each of their favorites. As sick as she had become over the last year, just seeing her newest granddaughter, Charlotte, would just perk her up and lighten her mood, though she was never one to feel sorry for herself and always retained her sense of humor and optimism. She loved her family, including her nieces and nephews and cousins from both sides of her family, and they all adored her. She had a wonderful marriage of 45 years to her beloved Clifford, her high school sweetheart, for whom she pined until the day she passed away. The family is finding some consolation in that they will be united once again.

Shelly was very loved by so many and will always be very, very missed by everyone who knew her and never forgotten.
