Obituary for Raymond Pelovitz

Raymond Pelovitz, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the age of 93. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Ellene Pelovitz (nee Monaco); his four children, Alex (Daisy) Pelovitz, Neil Pelovitz, Robyn Katz (Robert Krinsky), and Lisa Pelovitz (Michael Testa); and his grandchildren, Jordan Pelovitz (Sara Emerson), Aaron Pelovitz, Nicole Shapiro, and Zachary Shapiro [and great grandson ]. Raymond was predeceased by his siblings, Norman (Karen) Pell and Goldie (Sylvan) Gershen; Cecile (Sam) Steinberg and parents, Dora and Joshua Pelovitz.

Raymond was the patriarch of the Pelovitz family. A Baltimore native who grew up in the Hamilton neighborhood where his parents ran Pelovitz Food Market. Raymond was a member of the first graduating class of Forest Park High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Thereafter, he opened Pelovitz Food and Liquor in East Baltimore. Subsequently Raymond owned and operated Ozzie's, a market with a deli and cafe in Ventnor, New Jersey. Raymond would later return to Baltimore to pursue new ventures

Raymond enjoyed taking his kids to see the Baltimore Colts and Orioles. He was an avid card player, through which he made many lasting friendships with his sense of humor, good heart, and gentle, easy going nature. Not much ruffled Raymond. He took life in stride and met it head on living life to the fullest.

Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Wednesday, April 6th, 2022 at 10:30 am. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to The American Heart Association. Shiva on Wednesday directly after the service, family only.
