Ronald Alan Lubman, of Baltimore, MD and Boca Raton, FL, passed away on January 25, 2021 at the age of 85, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. In hospice care for only a few days, Ronnie died peacefully in his sleep at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.

Ronnie was the dearly beloved husband of 60 years to Nancy Lubman (nee Sappe); devoted father of Cindy Marhefka (Craig), and Debra Lubman (Mark Lewis); loving brother of the late Barry Lubman (the late Sylvia and dear friend Helena Novak) and Geri Willen (Mark); cherished grandfather of Ryan Clayton (Kristina), Connor Clayton, Kerri Clayton, and Dylan Clayton; adored father-in-law of Robert Clayton. Ronnie was predeceased by his parents Jack and Phoebe Lubman and survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

In 1953, Ronnie graduated high school from Baltimore City College. He then went on to graduate from the George Washington University College of Pharmacy in 1957. While in college, Ronnie was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and the GW basketball team. He was also elected Student Council President. Ronnie served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1957 and remained in the National Guard for six years. He carried a deep sense of patriotism and love for both his country and those who selflessly sacrificed to provide safety and freedom to all. He proudly supported those who served in the military, law enforcement, and first responders as well as numerous charitable organizations.

After honorable service, Ronnie accepted a position as the pharmacist at Reads Drug Store in 1958 where he met his wife Nancy, then a pharmacy school student. In 1965, Ronnie and Nancy purchased what came to be known as Chestnut Pharmacy in Baltimore City, located on W. 36th St. in Hampden. They ran it successfully for 30 years until they retired.

Ronnie was very active in the pharmacy community. He served as the President of the Baltimore Metropolitan Pharmacy Association from 1979-1981 and the President of the Maryland Pharmaceutical Association from 1981-1983. He also served decades as a preceptor for the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy where he trained and mentored young pharmacists. Additionally, Ronnie participated in the passing of generic drug legislation in Maryland. Active in the business community, Ronnie served on numerous local boards, including the Mayor's Small Business Council for Baltimore City, where he was appointed by the late Mayor William Donald Schaefer. Ronnie continued to actively serve on Community Boards until the present.

Throughout his life, Ronnie enjoyed playing tennis with his friends. He was the captain of many tennis teams at Boca Pointe Country Club. He took great pride in his family and of all his many activities, he most loved spending time with them whether it be at home, watching his children and grandchildren playing sports, vacationing at the beach with them in the summer, or skiing with them in Colorado during the winter. He especially looked forward to spending time with his cousins in Florida and hosting family visits.

A virtual funeral will be held on Wednesday January 27, 2021 at 12:00 pm. Please visit to view the service. Interment Baltimore Hebrew Cemetery – Berrymans Lane, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at or The Gary Sinise Foundation at to support veterans and first responders.

Dear Nancy, Cindy, and Debra, I am heartbroken to hear about Ronnie’s passing. Our family connections and Pharmacy pals go way back but I especially appreciated the way Ronnie and Nancy welcomed and embraced me to the fold. It is a sadder world now that we are losing so many good guys but I will always cherish those fond memories. I hope you will also find comfort in the special way that Ronnie took care of all of us.

Dear Nancy and Family,

Efhraim and I are deeply saddened to hear of Ron’s passing. As your downstairs neighbors, we always looked forward to you returning to Boca Pointe the week of Halloween. We felt good knowing that you both were here.
Last year after Efhraim had back surgery, both Ron and you, Nancy, said to me, “Please call us anytime that you need help. Even in the middle of the night. We don’t sleep much! And if you need to go out and don’t want him to be alone, we can come down and sit with him!” Thank goodness there was no need to call you, but who does that? You have been the best neighbors and friends that anyone could wish for. And what a beautiful family you have! Such heartfelt words by each and every family member who spoke.
And so true. Ron was a “Tzaddik”, a righteous man. I really miss talking to Ron. He was always looking out for others. He always had a kind word.
Well, you now have an angel watching over all of you in Heaven. And who knows, maybe he will be able to help solve some of our issues down hear on Earth. I am sure that he will try!
We really miss you, Ron.
With love, Efhraim & Rochelle

Cousin Ronnie was a true LUBMAN.. a real mensch like his father, his brother BARRY,my uncle Jack, his uncle RUBY, my father, Uncle HArry and Uncle Mike. Their family always came first. They were all kind, intelligent, generous and understanding. All great people, which can be attributed to their mother and grandmother IDA. Ronnie and Nancy were the best example of love in a relationship......and i adored both of them, even though, we always didnt get along politically. i was always sad that w2e lived so far away, that we couldnt socialize more. Ronnies passing is a great lost to the planet and his family, but he did live a good long life, but not long enough
