Dr. Drane began her career in New Orleans at Charity Hospital and then U.S. Public Health Service in New Orleans, LA. After moving to Baltimore, she continued with USPHS. She continued practicing Radiology at Baltimore City Hospital, and later joined the private practice of Doctors Schultze, Snider and Associates and completed her career with the United States Army at Kimbrough Army Hospital in Fort Meade Maryland, retiring with the rank of Colonel. Prior to joining the Army, she was a member of the Army National Guard. While attending Northeast Junior College she was a premed major, standing high on the Dean’s list; at 17 was president of the Romance Honor Society, treasurer of Phi Theta Kappa and a member of Beta Tau Mu, Purple Jackets, Gamma Omega and WRA. She also captained the winning team in women’s basketball intramurals; and brightened the chorus with her voice and smile. Dell could usually be found in the chemistry lab, student center, library or gym. She was extremely proud of all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She highly valued education, and was a mentor to many throughout her career. Adelle loved gardening, symphony, theater, dancing, reading, and fishing, and really enjoyed teaching and explaining how things work to her kids. She was also very proud to be an American and to serve her country honorably. Post-Katrina found her in New Orleans again to help for a few weeks and that turned into many months. In her later years she traveled the world extensively with her husband Bill, and many of her grandchildren were fortunate enough to join them, and choose the destination. For many years, she and Bill made the trip to Crow Canyon Archaeological Center to be educated and participate in the ongoing digs. She loved Israel and visited numerous times. Adelle will be dearly missed.
