Shirley Flax Gambel (nee Halpren), of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Thursday, May 25th, 2023 at the age of 95. She is survived by her children, Stephen Flax, Ellen (Alan) Gottfried, William Flax, Dr. Phillip Gambel and Dr. Jeffrey Gambel; her sister-in-law, Miriam Halpren and brother-in-law, Dr. Bernard Fine; her grandchildren, Sidney (Courtney) Flax, Nathan (Melissa) Flax, Eileen (Scott) Atkins, Molly (Tony) Browne, Jacob Flax, Sarah (Joseph) Fynn, Samuel (Melanie) Flax, Samantha (Jimmy) Barber, Joshua Flax and Jared Flax; and great grandchildren, Henry and Max Fynn, Anderson, Noah, Wilder and River Flax and Ally Barber. She was predeceased by her husbands, Alexander Gambel and Sidney Flax; her son, Ira Flax; brother, Julius Halpren; parents, Fannie and Nathan Halpren; and sister-in-law, Shirley Fine.

Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Sunday, May 28th, 2023 at 10:00 am. Interment Liberty Park Cemetery of Shaarei Zion. Please omit flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to Covenant Guild. The family will be in mourning at The Risteau, 2331 Old Court Road, Baltimore, MD 21208, Sunday following interment and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1pm-4pm and 6:30pm-8:30pm.
