Obituary for Shirley Schwartz (Schloss)

Shirley S. Schwartz (nee Schloss), of Pikesville, MD passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Morton Schwartz and parents, Julius and Mary Schloss.

Born August 14, 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland, Shirley was best known for her passion for animals. She worked briefly in a dental office and was a volunteer at Sinai Hospital.

Shirley was married to her beloved Morty for over 50 years and they were deeply devoted to one another.

Shirley loved her Papillons--Cory, Fame, and Paisley. She showed these dogs (as well as many others in the past) in Obedience, Agility, and Rally events well into her 91st year.

Shirley cared for the well-being of all animals and took personal interest in feeding the wild deer and birds in her backyard. The deer would come up to her to be fed, regularly. She kept gallons of cracked corn on hand, just for that purpose. She derived great pleasure from feeding the birds & deer.

In her earlier days, she loved to dance at the Suburban Club, where she was a member, and was the life of the party. She had a “joie de vivre” and loved life. She lived her life with determination. She was kind, compassionate, and cared for all those she met.

Contributions in her memory may be sent to a charity of your choice. Feel free to recognize her love for Animal Rights organizations.
