A sad but lovely tribute in honor of Sol. I was privileged to have Sol as my friend. Pictures of good times having dinner, with Sol and Fran's favorite dessert, strawberry shortcake.
We love you.

Sol was my father's best friend and doubles partner on the racquetball court. Sol was always in the front court, my Dad in the back. With his quick reflexes and that soft kill shot into the corner, Sol frustrated and defeated many an opponent, often many years his junior. He was a real competitor and always, always a gentleman, both on and off the court.

As a kid, going out to dinner with "the boys" (Sol, Mel, Aaron, Getz, Jack and Sid) after some hard fought volleyball and racquetball matches at the "J", was always such a treat. Listening to them debate the social and political issues of the day, with their cold beers in hand at Sabatinos, or one of their other fav restaurants around town, taught me a lot about friendship. Sol was always the voice of reason. He didn't need to raise his voice to make his points heard; the others always listened and respected what he had to say, though not always agreeing. Among the other lessons I learned from those often heated discussions was that great friends could disagree vehemently about issues and still love each other dearly.

Sol was one of my mentors in life, and I am immensely grateful to have known him. To me, he was kind, honest, loyal, generous, intelligent, athletic and strong. He and my father were best buddies and they were the kind of men I aspired to be. I don't think I quite made it to the standards they set, but very few men ever really do.

Dear Fran and Family,

So heartbroken to learn of Sol's passing and wishing it never happened. Grateful for all the championship sports he acquired and helped coach for the JEA and his numerous duties he performed for the JEA Fellowship, contributions to the Associated Jewish Charities and to the first hospital in Carroll County. As the son of parents from Trochenbrod, Ukraine, a town of 5,000 wped out in 1942, he endeavored to reconnect with distant Trochenbrod relatives and residents. Altogether, Sol was a true "mentch." Will miss him so much.

Dear Fran and family,
It certainly is with a heavy heart that we send our love and thoughts to all of you. Sol was the most generous and loving man that Ed and I have had the priviledge to know. He had a love of family and always included us as his family. We all were very fortunate that he was able to share so many years with us. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to learn of Sol’s passing. I played racquetball with Sol and others of his very special generation of good athletes and intense competitors who exhibited their sportmanship while dominating. His quick wit and big smile, as well as his skills, were ever present. I am sure his family and friends will gain comfort in the coming days, from memories of a real mensch in every way.

Dear Judy and Family,
So sorry to hear about your loss. Although I always knew Sol as your dad, I was also lucky to have interacted with him when I shopped at his jewelry store in Westminster. Sol was always so friendly and helpful to me, and I enjoyed visiting him on many occasions. I hope and pray that your wonderful memories will bring you some measure of comfort in the difficult days ahead.

Dear Mrs. Ackman,
I am so very sorry to see this. Mr. Ackman was one of my very favorite clients when I was working at the bank.
He was always happy, cheerful and just such a nice man.
He always greeted me with “hey Doll”! It was always a pleasure to help both of you with your banking needs.
Please know that I am thinking of you with a broken heart.
