Obituary for Sol Ackman
Sol Ackman, of Pikesville, MD, passed away on Thursday, May 27th, 2021 at the age of 94. Sol was born and raised in East Baltimore. He attended City College and graduated in 1946, where he was captain of the basketball team. He was an excellent athlete and was on many basketball, baseball, and softball championship teams.
Sol owned and operated a jewelry store in Westminster, MD for 45 years. He was a member of the merchant association of Westminster. In later years, he played racquetball and tennis. He loved opera and Broadway. He was a lifelong member of the JEA (Century Club) and served on the board of the JEA Fellowship for many years.
Sol was married to his beloved Frances for 73 years. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with his loving family. He is survived by his daughters, Anne (Glenn) McKenzie, Phyllis (Jeff) Brenner, and Judy (Stephen) Kelley; grandchildren, Matt (Emily) Brenner, Ryan (Alejandra Lopez) Brenner, and Kate McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Madeline, and Juliana; and many loving friends and relatives.
A private funeral will be held at Sol Levinson & Bros. on Sunday, May 30 at 12 pm. Others are welcome to watch virtually via the webcasting link. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gilchrist Hospice Care or the charity of your choice.
