Obituary for Sylvia Sara Katzel (Diamond)

Sylvia Sara Katzel (nee Diamond), of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Monday, October 24th, 2022 at the age of 64. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Leslie Ira Katzel; children, Daniel (Arielle) Katzel, and Amy Katzel (Robert) Adler; mother, Ruth Diamond; brothers, Arnold Diamond, and Stephan Diamond (Unice Lieberman); grandchildren, Julian Katzel, Zavy Katzel, Nathan Adler, and newborn baby girl Adler; sisters in law, Marna Katzel, and Frances Katzel Kitchell; brother in law Marshall Kitchell; father in law, Joseph Katzel; as well as Francine and Rabbi Raphael Adler; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her father, David Diamond; and mother in law Estelle Katzel.

Sylvia will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter who whose greatest joys were her family and friends. In their cherished marriage of 43 years, she and Les traveled often, took daily walks together, and loved spending time with their grandchildren. Sylvia enjoyed volunteering with numerous charitable organizations and served as a leader in many. Everyone who knew her loved her unmatched warmth, kindness, generosity, and optimism. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. May her memory be for a blessing always.

Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Thursday, October 27th, 2022 at 9:30 am. Interment Beth Tfiloh Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to Federation of Jewish Womens Organizations of Maryland, P.O. Box 29 Stevenson, MD 21153.

The family will be in mourning at 1 Honey Spring Court, Lutherville, MD, 21093 on Thursday following interment, with a service at 6pm. Friday visiting hours will be from 1 pm to 4pm. On Sunday, visiting hours will be from 1-5pm at 3937 Garrison St. NW, Washington DC, 20016.
