Victor Schenk, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at the age of 85. He is survived by his cousins, Marjorie Schenk, Alvin Schenk, and Wayne Barber. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Lillian and Morton Schenk.
Victor loved to travel and had a carefully-cultivated African artwork collection. In addition to his art collection, he was most proud of owning and running Morton Schenk & Co., after inheriting the business from his father. Known as the "House of Buttons," the company was a Baltimore institution. They provided dry cleaning and tailoring supplies in addition to buttons. Keeping many thousands of buttons sorted and organized was a perfect match for Victor, because he was fastidious and it was very important to him that things be done right. Victor will be remembered as a very private man who was charity-minded and kind.
A graveside service will be held at Beth Tfiloh Cemetery - Windsor Mill Road, on Friday, May 14th, 2021 at 12 pm. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 405 Williams Court, Suite 120, Baltimore, MD 21220 or The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, 101 W. Mt. Royal Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21201 or Beth El Congregation, 8101 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21208.
