Obituary for Warren D. Michelson

Warren D. Michelson, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Sunday, July 24th, 2022, surrounded by his children, at the age of 91. He is survived by his children, Dr. Charles Michelson, Dr. Jeff (Elise) Michelson, and Dr. Hillary Michelson (Bob Snyder); grandchildren, Sara (Brian) Offen, Rebecca Law, Marlee Michelson, and Ryan Michelson; and great grandchildren, Charlotte and James Offen. Warren was predeceased by his beloved wife of 35 years, Rita Michelson (nee Korn); brother, Baird Michelson; and parents, Ruth and Harry Michelson.

Mike, as he was known to friends and family, was a lifelong Baltimore resident. He graduated from City College in 1949, where he famously pitched a no-hitter against Forest Park. Mike spent the next year and a half in Valdosta, Georgia, as a pitcher in the farm system for the Brooklyn Dodgers before returning home to join his parents in the family business. It was a great source of pride for Mike that, upon his retirement, his son Jeff and daughter-in-law Elise successfully expanded the family business into a global enterprise.

Mike was utterly devoted to his family and shared a special bond with Suzzy Gann, his companion of many years. He had a cadre of close friends with treasured relationships that spanned over seven decades. Among his favorite memories were the summers his family spent with Rita’s brother’s and sister’s families in Rehoboth Beach, and he was most proud that his family’s love for Rehoboth has been maintained for 3 generations. Mike loved to discuss sports, history, politics and business with his children and grandchildren, and loved every dog he ever met. In his final years, he was fortunate to have several attentive caregivers, and his family would like to especially thank Joan Mattei, Charlene Miller, and Simone Nicholson for their compassionate care. Mike was a cherished dad, PopPop, uncle and friend, and he will be sorely missed.
