Obituary

Yetta H. Farber (nee Haber), 95, of Fair Lawn, NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 29th, 2021. She is survived by her children, Dr. Susan (David) Straus and Marilyn Farber; grandchildren, Rebecca Straus Farber (Evan Farber) and Emily Straus Bastow (Zach Bastow); great-grandchildren, Charlotte Farber, Eli Farber, Eliza Bastow, and Matilda Bastow. She was predeceased by her husband, Hy Farber; siblings, Harold Haber and Morton Haber; and parents, Rose and Toby Haber.

Yetta was an exceptional teacher and a New Jersey Teacher of the Year. Her commitment to education continued into her retirement, when she went on to volunteer in classrooms. She was especially proud of a 1st Prize award for an essay she wrote about her first year of teaching. Yetta was very artistic and enjoyed doing ceramics. She was also active in Hadassah. Yetta had a positive outlook on life and will be remembered as a loving, giving person to both family and friends. Kind and caring, she was always thinking about others. She had a well-deserved reputation as an amazing hostess. At the end of the day, the most important thing to her was her family.

I had the pleasure of working with Yetta at Public School No.13 for many years. She had a heart of gold and truly loved the children. I'll always remember the bathtub of winter coats that she collected for the children. Yetta was a loving and caring woman....fond memories. ❤ R.I.P.
