Dear Iris,
I am so sorry to hear of "Aishey's passing. He was almost as much of a big brother to me growing up on Callaway Ave. as he was to his sister and my best friend Elaine. I remember many occasions where Aishey was so helpful and involved whenever Elaine or I needed advice or direction. I will never forget how he taught us the "Cha Cha" and kept us in the loop with the current fads.
I remember when you got engaged and am happy that you both had so many happy years together and produced such a wonderful family.
As Aishey's store, Jerry's, was so close to my Dad's store, Lester's Food Market, I know my Dad thought the world of him and that the two of them had a close and friendly relationship.
I was happy my Dad was able to know him as well.
My deepest condolences to you and your loved ones. His sweet and caring nature will always be in my thoughts when I remember those years growing up on Callaway Ave.
Much love,
Susan Lester Levy

I am saddened that I will not enjoy that smile he gave me every time I saw him. I met him when I was a student at City. In the photo of the football team, to his left is my cousin Bernie Gordon. Gerry was a true bonified mensch. My his memory be a blessing to all.

Iris, Linda and Robbie, I am deeply saddened to read of the passing of your loving Husband and devoted father and grandfather. He was such a nice man with a big smile for everyone. I know his primary concern was always for the well being of his family. No words, however kindly meant, can soothe your pain away, but I hope the beautiful memory of his devotion and love will bring you comfort. My thoughts are with you for peace and comfort.

We remember Jerry from years ago at the JCC. He always had a smile on his face and was welcoming to everyone. The last time we saw Jerry was at the Chanukah House on Park Heights Avenue and we hugged and shared old stories. Our best to Iris, Robbie, Mark, and Linda, and hope you remember the great times with your dad. He certainly was a special person and had our respect and admiration.

Condolences go out to Mrs. Silverman,Linda,Robbie, Marc & the entire family.I have known Robbie for close to 50 years, graduating at Pikesville High School Class of 1978. I also have known Linda since school days. Unfortunately I did not know your dad.I know one thing-- Your dad had to be a brilliant businessman, father, great & great-great grandfather !! I know he owned "Jerry's" Variety Store, on W. Lexington St. for many decades, serving Baltimore school children, selling uniforms & associated apparel. It took a strong minded, honest person to survive so many years in the diverse and great city we all call Baltimore,
Maryland, U.S.A. I know Jerry had Linda, Robbie, your Mom & the family helped him operate the business for many years. I, myself, along with my Mom, Dad & brother, Arnold, all (OBM), operated a large fleet of Baltimore City taxicabs, also for many decades. Thru prosperity & turmoil, that still grips out great City, as business people, we go to work everyday to serve the public. I have my memories of our family business. I continue to serve the public in my Home Improvement business. That's just the way it is...with a strong work ethic, but not forgetting our families, friends, & various Jewish Charities. The knowledge we learn from our parents is irreplaceable & growing up in a family run business. Our parents give us food, clothing, housing, education, religion & LOVE...to lead us along the path of life...I know your dad did all this for your family...and I salute him as I speak to you now. May you cherish all the great memories of Jerry !!! May Hashem bless his Soul !!! Baruch Hashem !!!

Dear Iris and Family.
So sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. He was a mainstay in our JCC joggers group that traversed up and down Park Heights avenue for many, many years. Even though he worked hard at his downtown store, he found time to join the group in the evenings and Sunday mornings. Jerry was a keen and smart businessman and a hard worker who built up a big following in the downtown area. He went to New York often on buying trips to secure clothing that his customers needed. A friendly and devoted person, Jerry always found time to be at Beth Tfiloh for his parents' Yahrzeits and he also supported B'nai Israel. Congregation for many years. He will be missed. May his memory be for a blessing.
