Mel will be fondly remembered in the Maryland pharmacy community. He was passionate about his profession and how to protect the health of Maryland citizens. While he grew a strong business, he will be most remembered for his work with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy, Maryland Pharmacists Association, and Emergency Preparedness. Neil will remember him most as the one who gave him his first job in the pharmacy! Our deepest condolences to Phyllis, Neil, Stephanie, and the entire Rubin family.

Phyllis and family,
I am very sad to hear of Mel's passing. He was and always will be remembered as a mensch, and a true leader in pharmacy. He was always there to listen, and offer support and suggestions, not to judge. When Mel "retired", he became a mentor and his guidance was invaluable. My parents, Mayer and Donna, always held Mel and Phyllis in the highest regard, as "true friends"
Rest in peace, my friend

Our Condolences to Phyllis, Neil, and Stephanie. Dr. Mel was a wonderful man and will be missed. Dr. Mel gave me my first job at Paradise Pharmacy. I learned so much from him that has stuck with me over the last 50+ years. I always admired how he got to know all of his customers and put their needs ahead of anything else. I think everyone who came in that store knew Dr. Mel and admired him. He and Phyllis were dear friends to My parents Mark and Millie Golibart. I will never forget all the Christmas evenings they would spend with us. Mom would always try to make sure she had some of her home made candy available for Neil and Stephanie.
May God embrace Dr. Mel as Heaven has gotten a little better now.

Dear Phyllis and Family,
What a remarkable person, Mel will always be. Kind, intelligent and always willing to help. He was a G-d sent when he approached my wife and offered her a job as a pharmacist. He told her, that you don't know me, but I know what kind of person you are and I want to hire you. I am proud that he signed my Board of Pharmacy Certificate when I became registered. He was the Pharmacist's Pharmacist. Thank you Mel, for all you did for our family and being a father-like when we needed it.

Phyllis and family, I met Mel as a clerk at Read’s in Hamilton 58 years ago. Little did I know how I would come to follow his advice and respect all that he did for the profession of pharmacy. To say he was and is an icon is an understatement. We went on to spend time at the MPhA and the Board of pharmacy. May all the memories make your loss easier and that Mel will Rest In Peace
