Obituary

Robert B. Gerstein, of Reisterstown, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021 at the age of 76. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda K. Gerstein (nee McDowell); children, Stacy (Gary) Corrado, Robin (Robert) Hoffman; siblings, Leonard (Lois) Gerstein, and Wilma Parlaman; and grandchildren, Anna (Nicolas) Nunez, E. Garrett Corrado, and Misha Hoffman. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Richard Parlaman; and parents, Israel "Irv" and Anna Gerstein (nee Goodman).

Robert will always be remembered as a charming, well kept, generous man. A hardworking pharmacist, Robert's vast professional and social network began when he attended the AZO pharmacy fraternity at the University of Maryland. Everyone who knew Robert knows that that he would always be there for you, that you can count on him. His regular workouts with friends naturally turned into the founding of "The Rat Pack", a group of guys that always met to exercise, eat lunch, and play cards. His family will miss him fondly for the devotion and passion he had for them. His eagerness to step in and help his daughter to get a good deal on her car speaks volumes to how much he wanted to help those around him, and get a deal here or there. He shared optimism with all who knew him, taught his family how to take care of themselves, and brought people together with ease. The world is a better place because Robert was in it. May his memory be a blessing always.

A Virtual Funeral will be held on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to the Baltimore Humane Society, 1601 Nicodemus Rd, Reisterstown, MD 21136. Shiva will be held privately.

Hi Linda and family. It was a total shock to hear of Robert's passing. I was Robert's pharmacy partner at REVCO from 1986 to 1990. He was a very kind and compassionate pharmacist. I enjoyed working with him very much. My condolences to the entire family. So sorry for your loss.

Pop Pop was always ready to talk, and hear how my life was doing and what I was up to. As my grandfather, he taught me to care for others interests, and ask how they're doing. He was passionate about others, and wanted to find out what other people were passionate about. We mourn his loss but know that we will see him again, and be able to talk about all the things we have been up to.

Linda, so sorry for your loss. Rob and I became friends the day we met at the J. He was my one man book club. We both liked the same authors and stories. We even found time to work out. My brother Len will now continue their friendship in heaven. Stay strong.

Rob was an amazing man.I was staff at the JCC when The Rat Pack came to be and I adored all of the men in the group as they helped me with their feedback of the fitness center and always there to give compliments and suggestions. Their wonderful uplifting spirit, comaraderie and love of fitness of the "Rat Pack" led by Bernie and then Rob gave the JCC a wonderful expression of it's love for seniors and their involvement in fitness at their home away from home, the JCC. Rob was so friendly and so helpful to new members and to all the staff. His kind-heartedness, gentle soul and caring for all was extraordinary. He left this world a much better place.Until we meet again dear friend.

I was shocked to hear the news about Robert. I am saddened by his loss. My relationship with Robert, Bob, or Muzzy goes back to the 50’s on Price Ave. near Hilltop Shopping Center. Going to the Crest Theater, the bowling alley, Mandels or the Diner! Playing punchball on the street, touch football, and going to Arlington Elementary School #234. There were so many great memories! To Wilma and Leonard my deepest condolences . May his memory be a blessing during this time of sorrow.

We are so shocked and deeply saddened by this terrible news. Robert was a wonderful person. We so very much enjoyed knowing him, seeing him at the gym, discussing books and just being friends. Robert was friendly with my brother in pharmacy school. They travelled together for Spring Breaks and we were able to get them back together several years ago when my brother was in town. Truly joyful moments. I spoke to Robert about 6 weeks ago and we knew he was having a rough time, but he was a fighter and we were sure he would recover. What a shock this is. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Linda and the family. May our great memories of Robert be a source of strength and a blessing for all of us.

Robert will be missed in so many ways. He always had a smile and laugh when he saw you as he was genuinely happy to see you. His dedication to his friends, especially his AZO fraternity brothers, was heartfelt and had no limits. No favor was too great. Our hearts and thoughts are with the entire family during this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing.

Linda, Stacy, Robin, and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Robert always had a smile on his face.
The first time I met him at Valley Dental with "my girls" as he would call them I knew there was something special about him. He never had an unkind word and was always so positive. Please know that I am thinking about everyone and may your memories bring a warmth to your hearts and a smile to your faces . Fondly, Linda Hayes

Our prayers and thoughts are with you upon the passing of Rob and we know how difficult the past few years have been. We have so many wonderful memories of us going all the way back to Reads Drug days, Pharmacy School, AZO, The Rat Pack and just being good life long friends.
